UC researchers, including Dr. David Moore of the HIV Neurobehavioral Research Program, are conducting a 4-year study on pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP).  PrEP is a prevention strategy for people at high risk for contracting HIV.  Participants agree to take a Truvada pill daily to reduce their risk of getting infected by up to 99%.  Adherence is critical for the method to be effective so participants in the study receive daily reminders to take their medications via text messages and their medication usage is tracked.
